What A Waste: Powering the UK for the next 2,000 years

ree

Nuclear waste is not a problem -- it's a myth.

As the UK government decides what to do with its used nuclear fuel, WePlanet sets out the arguments for retaining, and recycling this store of near boundless clean energy.

We calculate that the heavy material currently classified as 'waste' in the UK could provide plentiful, low-carbon energy for almost unimaginable spans of time -- more than two millennia in fact. Throwing it away would be a tragic waste.

It's time to change the way we look at this valuable resource and develop a spent-fuel recycling strategy that helps boost energy security, meet climate goals and deliver plentiful clean energy for generations to come.
