Our message to the UK government: Don't bury our future

ree

As the UK government figures out what to do with the UK's nuclear waste, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority ran a public consultation on its current plans.

These include burying the plutonium currently stored at Sellafield in a deep waste repository, an immense waste of a valuable fuel that could help keep the country's lights on for millennia to come. (Not to mention the public money and political will required to get the repository built.)

WePlanet put together a submission to the consultation, setting out the arguments against this wasteful plan, and for a more positive approach that would generate masses of clean electricity, use our nuclear resources to their full and avoid centuries' of regret.

The full submission is here.
